Frontpage MailForms
Microsoft that need shooting for not updating how FrontPage does its mail forms, but it is not a problem as such as we can build a cgi script to do the FormMail for you and then you can just link to it from FrontPage make a file with the sample code and adapt it so the bit that says adapt for your account, and then upload it to your domain, call it form.html and test it this will work, now just point your code to that page when you what to use it, or insert this could into FrontPage instead of using there code for a form mail Frontpage Help Cpanels guide to Frontpage Extentions http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/frontpageExtensions.htm Can I use FrontPage extensions First and foremost, make sure that FrontPage extensions are installed on BOTH the server and on your account. If you are not sure send a ticket and request that we make sure FrontPage extensions are turned on on your account, mind you you should be able to tell from the listing in your public_html folder that should contain the folders called _private,_vti_bin,_vti_cnf,_vti_log,_vti_pvt and _vti_txt if you can see these the server has frontpage extentions installed on your account. uploading to us server using frontage is to :- http://domain-name settings --------- remote server type is FrontPage no SSL connection and then enter user name and password into the popup box some help can be found here too -------------------------------------- Some other helpful Info about Cpanel and Frontpage also I have noticed that FrontPage sometimes FrontPage takes a while to work correctly, it may be that the domain name has to be fully propagated around the world before it works 100%, if you notice that it seems to not be working on a new account allow up to 72 hours for the domain name to fully propagate How to publish my website using FrontPage ? Before you can publish an html file to your web site with FrontPage, you must either have a page already created, or create a page. To create a page with FrontPage, follow these simple steps: With FrontPage open, choose File --> New Type in "This is a simple test." From the menu bar, choose File --> Save As Name the html file. (If this file is to be your homepage, be sure to name it index.html) Once you have saved the file to your hard drive, you are ready to publish the file. Now to Publish Your Web Page From the menu bar, choose File --> Publish Web Click on the "Options" button. In box below, specify the location to publish your site: Enter the full URL for your site.( http://www.yourdomain.com ) If this is the first time you are publishing your site, select "Publish all pages" Select "Include Subwebs". (Obviously, you will have to put your real domain name instead of 'mydomain.com') Click the "Publish" button. Enter your hosting account username and password. Click "Done". If you have entered all the details correctly, FrontPage will then publish your site I installed Front Page extensions and now cgi programs won't work? Front page changes the way your site is managed on the web server. One of the draw backs is that it manages cgi programs in a non standard way and may result in the inability to run programs that are not included as part of Front Page. This includes most third party shopping carts, page counters, form mail scripts, etc... The only way to be sure cgi programs will work is to not install front page extensions on your hosting account. Additionally Some front page componants will not work even if the Front Page Extensions are installed properly on your site. I am getting an Error 500 "Internal Server Error" when trying to view my FrontPage site online. The most common cause is the use of FTP in uploading FrontPage generated webpages. This can damage the FrontPage extensions. In this case the FrontPage extensions will need to be reinstalled. This can be done in your cPanel Control Panel. If you are utilizing FrontPage to create your site, you MUST use the file upload feature in the FrontPage program to deliver these pages to the web server. If FrontPage webpages are transferred by another FTP client, FrontPage extensions will become damaged. And even though the pages may be successfully uploaded, they will not be viewable (translatable by a web browser) due to corrupted code. I'm getting error - "Root Web Busy" when I try to publish with FrontPage. FTP to your site and remove the "service.lck" file in /public_html/_vti_pvt. This usually happens when an FP session is interrupted before completion. NOTE: Just to be safe, it would be a good idea to reinstall FrontPage Extensions via your cPanel after you use FTP in your site. Most common problems while publishing site with Front Page.
